Michelle Reader Sculpture Garden

The last week of half-term, Year 4 invited their parents and carers to visit their sculpture park which was set up in the Wellbeing Garden. Each class used recycled objects to create either a land, sea or sky creature based on the work of Nottingham based artist Michelle Reader. They used an umbrella to make a peacock, bottles to make fish, a lampshade for the body of a spider and tins and cartons to make birds. There were other amazing creatures hidden within the natural environment which other year groups in the school enjoyed spotting. It was incredibly effective displaying these recycled sculptures in a natural environment and it certainly helped that the sun came out just in time for the showcase. Both children and teachers worked hard during this unit of work and they were incredibly proud of their success. What a wonderful sustainable project!  Well done Year 4.
