Safeguarding & Online Safety

All staff at Hinchley Wood Primary School maintain a safeguarding culture of ‘It could happen here’. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow clear safeguarding procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.

Hinchley Wood Primary School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all our children in school. Pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment, which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse. Hinchley Wood Primary School follows the Surrey Safeguarding guidelines.  The school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, Safer Recruitment Procedure, Trust Staff Code of Conduct and Procedures for Volunteers, Visitors, Supply Staff & Contractors.

Staff and Governors at Hinchley Wood Primary School are aware that many children are the victims of different kinds of abuse and that they can be subjected to social factors that have an adverse impact upon their lives – including domestic violence, online bullying, substance misuse, bullying,  mental health and radicalisation. We also acknowledge that safeguarding incidents could happen anywhere and staff should be alert to possible concerns arising.

Through our curriculum, we teach children to stay safe and happy. We encourage the understanding that any problem or worry that they may have is legitimate and to share their worries, big or small with their trusted adult; at home; school or with organisations such as Child Line.

Our designated child protection officers are listed below. These member of staff are known to pupils and staff and are always available.
