Uniform
Our pupils are expected to be smart and appropriately dressed for a place of learning. Wearing uniform is intended to develop our pupils’ sense of belonging to the Hinchley Wood Primary School community, to create a sense of equality for to all who wear it, as well as encourage a pride in a smart appearance.
Our uniform requirements ensure children are dressed safely for the activities they are taking part in; this includes the correct footwear and the avoidance of jewellery. Wearing uniform also removes pressure to keep up with latest fashion trends at school and avoids a feeling of being left out because of affordability.
At Hinchley Wood Primary School we are proud of our uniform and we work hard to maintain high standards of dress. We rely on the support of parents & carers in upholding these high standards.
Incorrect uniform will be highlighted by teachers to parents/carers and should be rectified by the following school day.
A detailed list of our school uniform and expectations, including for P.E, are listed below.
Requirements & Suppliers
We have ensured that our uniform requirements are in-line with recent government guidance on the affordability of school uniforms and have minimised the requirement for branded items. On our uniform list we have clearly indicated where items can be unbranded and bought from most retailers. We encourage the selling and buying of pre-loved items through our PTA. We will always seek to support students and families who are struggling to meet the cost of uniform.
Our guidelines have been carefully thought out and provide pupils with a choice of items where appropriate. Pupils may choose to wear shorts, trousers, a school skirt or pinafore and are welcome to choose a v neck pullover or cardigan. Summer uniform may be worn from Easter through to October half term.
HWPS branded items are available from our supplier – Network UK Uniform https://www.ukuniform.com/
Email address: networkukuniform@btinternet.com
Items may be purchased online for home delivery.
We ask that all items of clothing and any other property brought into school be clearly marked with the pupil’s name. The school recommends that clear woven labels or adhesive name stickers should be used where possible. For labelling we recommend mynametags.com
