World Book Day aims to change lives through a love of books and shared reading. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income. The mission is to see more children, from all backgrounds, with a lifelong habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them. For us, as a school, it gives us lots of opportunities to have plenty of book-based fun! We've been dressing up, taking part in craft competitions, book swapping, making books to share with other classes and we've even had a book-themed orientation trail.
